UFC featherweight Max Holloway is not planning to let go of his no.1 contender ranking in the division. Holloway fought ‘The Korean Zombie‘ this past weekend in the main event of UFC Singapore. A 3rd round knockout assured Holloway another victory on his path to featherweight dominance.
In his recent appearance at the Flagrant podcast, Holloway reminisced about his fight with Brian Ortega at UFC 231. The standout moment from this event was Holloway giving a striking lesson to Ortega in the middle of the fight. Holloway said in the podcast, “I ain’t got no secret. Bro, everybody in the UFC knows how to throw a 1-2 and know how to block a 1-2, just except for Ortega at the time.”
Holloway won that fight against Ortega after knocking him out in the 4th round of that event. The Hawaiian national has a great personality and is respected by a lot of fighters in his division. Other than the champion of the division, only ‘The Blessed” has dominated the entire division. Holloway’s win against The Korean Zombie this weekend means that the only loss that the No. 1 contender has faced in the last ten years is against champion Alexander Volkanovski. This stat itself displays the potential of the fighter.
The moment shared between Holloway and Ortega is one of a kind in the UFC. Never in an octagon have two opponents ever offered any kind of tips to each other in improving their fighting style between a fight.
