Ilia Topuria managed to capture headlines after the latest UFC Singapore event. Max Holloway defeated The Korean Zombie via KO in Singapore. Following the fight, Topuria praised the two featherweight legends but urged them to consider retirement. Max Holloway got notice of Ilia Topuria’s comment and fired an anime-inspired response to the Spanish featherweight.
Holloway wrote, “Thanks for the respect, but it’s only a matter of time lol.” He also used an image from the popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen to indicate that every fighter has weaknesses, including Topuria. Holloway also conveyed that he will be Topuria’s biggest weakness in the featherweight division.
Topuria has an undefeated record in MMA, boasting wins over Ryan Hall, Bryce Mitchell, and Josh Emmett. Topuria has good boxing to go along with expert grappling. He could be next in line to face champion Alexander Volkanovski. After witnessing Sean O’Malley shockingly dethrone Aljamain Sterling, anything can happen in MMA. Hence, some fans believe that Topuria can defeat Volkanovski in their title fight.
On the other hand, the future of Max Holloway in the featherweight division remains uncertain. He has fought almost everyone in the division and remains its second-best fighter. Holloway has already lost thrice to Volkanovski, which might make the UFC uncomfortable about giving another title shot to the Hawaiian native. However, if Topuria can dethrone Volk, Holloway could fight again for the title. Only time will tell if Holloway fights Topuria.
