Now, with this spectacular finish, Emmett has revived his career and regained the buzz around his name. As such, in a recent interview, he called out the #1 contender Max Holloway for a title eliminator matchup.
Max Holloway was the name to beat in the featherweight division to earn a title shot. As such, Josh Emmett revealed his intentions of fighting him next on The MMA Hour Show. He acknowledged Holloway for the name he had built. Further, he mentioned ‘Blessed’ beating almost everyone in the featherweight class other than him. So, he wanted to square up with Holloway and take a chance at the title soon.
Max has beat everybody. The only that has his number is Volkanovski. So, he is the number one contender, he's cleared out pretty much everyone in the division and fought everyone in the featherweight division but myself. I would be honored to fight him. Not long ago Josh Emmett rose through the rankings to fight for the interim featherweight championship. However, he lost that bout to Yair Rodriguez. Subsequently, he lost to Illia Topuria in a fight that solidified ‘El Matador’ to be the title challenger. Now, with a brutal knockout to his name, he eyed Max Holloway’s matchup to earn his way to the title fight.
For the past ten years, Max Holloway had lost only to Alexander Volkanovski in the featherweight division. However, Josh Emmett courageously called him out for a title eliminator. ‘Blessed’ won his previous two fights against Arnold Allen and The Korean Zombie while Emmett only won one fight in his last three outings. However, he believed to take on Holloway and break through him.

Max Holloway was a former featherweight champion. He held numerous records to his name and on that note, he hasn’t ever been knocked out. With over 30 fights in his career, it was phenomenal to even comprehend that he wasn’t knocked out one time. However, fans believed Josh Emmett could be that guy after his finish at UFC 296. As such, Emmett called out Holloway in a recent interview.
Josh Emmett laid his claim to fight Max Holloway next in a title eliminator. Holloway, on a two-fight win streak still stood outside the title picture as he already faced Alexander Volkanovksi three times and lost them all. So, he would be forced to fight a contender.
