Merab Dvalishvili will look to fight for the UFC bantamweight title in 2024. The only one standing in the way is former double champion and Olympic Gold medalist, Henry Cejudo. Sean O’Malley will put his bantamweight title on the line at UFC 299 against Marlon Vera. Therefore, Dvalishvili and Cejudo have the best chance to bag the next title shot with a victory at UFC 298.

Dvalishvili trained at Team Serra-Longo in Long Island New York. However, the Georgian has shifted camps to Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas to be close to the UFC PI. At Syndicate MMA, Dvalishvili has already impressed Muay Thai coach, Chris Trammell. Trammel spoke about Dvalishvili in the recent episode of UFC 298 embedded. This is what he said.

This guy trains more intensely, more often, more consistently than probably any other athlete I've personally seen. This guy is at every single training session. On top of that, he's here doing regular classes. He's here when the regular students are training without the fight team. So, this kind of stuff, you don't get to see the last week somebody's doing 10-15 rounds and just not even breaking a sweat.

Dvalishvili already has the reputation of a cardio machine inside the octagon. He has stayed true to his nickname, ‘The Machine’. In his latest fight, Dvalishvili dominated former Petr Yan as he showcased his renowned cardio in both striking and wrestling.

Former champion, Aljamain Sterling is a close friend of Dvalishvili. Due to their friendship, Dvalishvili refused to fight Sterling for the title hence the long win streak without a title shot. Sterling lost the title at UFC 292 in a disputed stoppage. Moreover, he has moved up to featherweight as he paved the way for Dvalishvili to contend for the title.

He was sparring here five rounds for five minutes, 25 minutes he was sparring, and then now he's going to train right there. Cr*zy machine, I told you guys, cardio. He's cardio, the best cardio.

UFC 298 is the first domestic PPV for the UFC in 2024. Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria will headline the event for the featherweight title. Like Dvalishvili, Topuria is also Georgian. If victorious at UFC 298, Topuria will become the first Georgian UFC champion. Dvalishvili can also follow suit in 2024 with a victory over Henry Cejudo.
