Irrespective of people’s opinion on gun laws, it is apparent that reform must be made to prevent any form of violence which is caused by irregularities in the system in providing possession of guns to citizens. The same was being discussed by Michael Bisping and Anthony Smith.

The conversation sparked after, A mass shooting at a Texas elementary school which killed 19 children and two adults, adding to a long list of mass murders in the United States. The attacker opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, where children aged seven to ten are taught, before being shot and killed by police, according to officials.

Investigators said the 18-year-old suspect possessed a handgun, an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, and high-capacity magazines. Before going on the rampage, the kid is suspected of shooting his grandmother. He may have been a high school student in the neighbourhood, according to local media.

Michael Bisping shared his condolences with the families of the victims of yet another mass shooting

After the horrific mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, South Texas, Bisping and Smith explored gun restrictions in the United States on the latest episode of the Believe You Me podcast.

The conversation turned out to be extremely prolific with the Smith stating, “It’s the culture I grew up in. Mine was very pro-gun, everybody has guns. Kids at 10 years old get deer rifles as presents and I even get my kids the same thing. I would welcome change, not any change but I would welcome changes. I hate that stance that people take that says, ‘It’s not a gun problem, it’s a mental health problem.’

He added, “Whatever the problem is, it needs fixed. The only issues I have is, I don’t think anything should be taken from me because of what someone else does. If I want a bazooka, I think I should be able to have one as long as I’m not doing anything illegal with it.”

Many people in the mixed martial arts community have spoken out. Including Bisping who in the same discussion stated, “You should not be permitted to possess a bazooka. There’s no need for a f*****g bazooka on your person… A bazooka is a weapon meant to blow up buildings.”

At the very least, we can all expect more action in the aftermath of yet another tragic event that could have been avoided.
