“An extremely close fight”- Michael Bisping offers a surprising opinion regarding Feorges St Pierre vs Anderson Silva
Georges St-Pierre Michael Bisping Anderson Silva
Anderson Silva and Georges St-Pierre are undoubtedly the biggest names in UFC history. Both the fighters are considered legends and in their prime were the pinnacle of MMA skill and talent. Both Silva and GSP had an extremely decorated career with several title wins and multiple defences.
The pair were practically unbeatable in their prime. Although Silva had a few bad fights during his career, GSP retired undefeated. Both the fighters were so good that it forced the fans to imagine a fight between these two but unfortunately, it never took place.
“I have gotta go with Anderson” – Bisping believes Anderson Silva would have beaten Georges St-Pierre in his prime
Bisping is known for having a healthy YouTube audience where the former middleweight fighter posts frequent videos. Bisping generally talks about UFC news, pay-per-view events, fighters etc.
In one of his recent videos, Bisping shares his opinion on who would have won if GSP and Silva fought each other. The Brit revealed that if the fight would have taken place in the welterweight division, GSP would have easily won using his elite grappling skills. Similarly, if the fight had happened during 2016-17 in the middleweight, St-Pierre would still be the winner. However, according to Bisping, during the prime of both fighters ‘The Spider’ would have taken the win.
“If the fight took place at welterweight, George would’ve grappled his way to a comfortable five-round decision. If the fight took place in 2015-16 or 2017 at middleweight, I also lean towards George winning, but in their primes from 2009 to 12, fighting at middleweight, I’ve gotta go
with Anderson Silva. Overall I think it would have been an extremely close fight,” said Bisping.
Bisping is one of the few lucky fighters who have fought Silva and GSP inside the octagon, which makes his opinion more factual.
It’s true that GSP has a better record than Silva and had incredible skills both on the feet as well as on the ground, however prime Silva was a beast. Many fights still consider Silva as the most dynamic striker in the history of UFC. He was a beast and never made any mistakes back then. The debate around this can go on forever, nevertheless, it would have been an amazing and extremely close fight.
