“She s*** the bed”- Michael Bisping provides his brutal assessment of Rose Namajunas’ performance at UFC 274
Michael Bisping on Rose Namajunas
Michael Bisping slams Namajunas! Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza fought for the women’s strawweight title at the co-main event of UFC 274. These two have fought before at the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 20. Rose was a huge favorite to win the fight, but Carla dominated the fight with her aggressive wrestling and submitted her to get the win.
Their first fight took place back in 2014, and both of them have grown leaps and bounds as a fighter. Rose stayed in the title contention and snatched the title from the clutches of Zhang Weili. She defended it against her, and Carla fought her way to the top to get a rematch against her.
Fans were really excited for this fight, and they thought it’d a great technical scrap. But, after five rounds of absolutely nothing, some declared it the worst fight of this century. Rose and Carla hesitated to engage, and for the most part, they just stood there and did nothing to make anything work.
Carla initiated some wrestling exchanges that steered the judges’ decision in her favor, and she became the champion with a split decision win.
“At some point, you have got to say, I’m here to fight”- Michael Bisping blames Rose Namajunas’ unwillingness to engage for her loss
Like everyone else, Michael Bisping was bummed out with this fight as well, and in his breakdown of UFC 274, he absolutely bashed Namajunas for fighting a little too safe, and literally throwing away her title.
Talking on the Believe You Me podcast, Bisping said, “Rose Namajunas absolutely s*** the bed is what happened there, I mean my god. We can talk about that real quick. I like Rose, I don’t want to s*** on Rose, I’m a massive fan of her, I like the way she carries herself, I like everything about her, particularly her fighting style. But, Saturday night, she s*** the bed.”
He added, “Listen, I get it. I do. I’ve been there. You’re fighting someone that’s beaten you, that brings a lot of demons, a lot of psychological demons and skeletons in your closet and what not. You think, ‘Ah, s***. This woman’s gonna take me down and choke me out again, I better be careful.’”
“So you do play it careful and you play it cautious, you’re waiting for openings and you’re downloading data, making reads, whatever you want to call it. But at some point, you have got to say, ‘Alright, I’m here to fight. Now I’m going to have to take some chances.’ You know?” Bisping concluded.
