“Without a shadow of a doubt”- Michael Bisping says Alexander Volkanovski would be the featherweight GOAT if he can do this

Alexander Volkanovski

UFC’s featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski is focused on his impending trilogy fight with former champion Max Holloway. Volkanovski has already defeated him twice and will be hoping to put a stop to their feud when they meet in the co-main event of UFC 276 on July 2nd.

Volkanovski now has 3 title defenses under his name, with only the first against Max Holloway being considered a somewhat controversial win. The latter 2 against Brian Ortega and TKZ, made it seem as though the UFC Featherweight division’s top contenders were nothing but warm-up fights for the Australian, looking untouchable while busting up his opponents.

Considering he didn’t have a traditional route to MMA i.e. where most athletes train their whole lives in a single form of combat sports and ultimately branch out to MMA while polishing the rest of their skill set, what Volk is been able to achieve is nothing short of a miracle.

Volkanovski said he would love to move up to the lightweight division after defeating Holloway for the third time in a row. Another legend, Michael Bisping believes if Alex can get it done, then he’d really be the greatest of all time. Talking about it on his YouTube channel, he said, “If Volkanovski pulls it off, he will then be, without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest featherweight that the UFC has ever seen.”

Talking about other legends of the division, he added, “Of course, that was Jose Aldo, ‘The King of Rio’. Then Conor McGregor knocked him out in 13 seconds, but he then never defended the belt. He vacated and then went up to 155. So, therefore, whilst McGregor had a crazy run at 145, he doesn’t go down as one of the greats.”
