I think it helps me stay leaner,” said Michael Chandler. Then, the fighter touched on the calorie restrictions and the inability to follow Michael Phelps’ dietary methods. “We’ve all heard like Michael Phelps, ate like twenty thousand calories in a day. I probably would feel a lot better if I could do that. But, I just can’t. I have to calorie restrict in order to go from 190 to 155. 1200 to 1400 calories in a day and training twice a day,” ended Chandler.

UFC lightweight fighter Michael Chandler followed a carnivore diet at a point in his fighting career. Revealed to do it from time to time, ‘Iron’ touched on the intricacies of the said carnivore diet. On the ‘Extra Thiccc’ YouTube channel with former UFC heavyweight fighter Brendan Schaub, Michael spoke about the process alongside the stand-up comedian.

I actually started experimenting with it in my last training camp,” said Chandler when asked about the followed duration of the carnivore diet. He continued, “But, you don’t wanna experiment too much in training camp right? I was doing a lot of avocado, bone marrow, and liver. It’s kinda like fasting. Everything is a modified version of a certain label. So, for me, I’m doing mainly meats and fats,” ended Michael Chandler.

The carnivore diet is said to be a controversial one. Although it is divisive, certain fighters follow the diet for weight loss or a healthy heart. However, the said diet had not been confirmed for the fighter ahead of his next bout following ‘The Ultimate Fighter.’ Michael Chandler is set to fight Conor McGregor despite the sexual assault allegations halting a potential bout. Although there are no rumors of a cancellation, fans grasp for straws in the hope of the bout coming to fruition.
