Recently, TKO Group Holdings made the WWE-UFC merger official. The UFC’s 300th pay-per-view event is up and WWE’s “Money in the Bank” is in the near vicinity. Hence, it has been in the works for a while. Concurrently, Michael Chandler has set out to be quite the name within the WWE spectrum. Yes; that read right! The UFC lightweight sensation recently called out rival, Conor McGregor in a full WWE-esque promo at Anaheim, 48 hours after UFC 298. And it confused WWE star Finn Bálor to a great extent.
Chandler had nudged that “there’s a man from Ireland” that has been ducking him for a while. Dubliner Mcgregor, some 29-ish months on the shelf, recently announced a supposed return against expectant rival Chandler. This was for June 29, for International Fight Week at UFC 302. The duo have served as opposing judges for TUF: Season 31, amounting to one of the best face-offs of the 2023 season. But a confused Bálor took to X to write –

Finn Bálor, born Fergal Devitt, is a fellow Irishman himself, who performs under the RAW brand of WWE. Hence the hilarious reaction to the callout. With UFC and WWE officially merging under the TKO umbrella, more such crossovers are yet to come. WWE COO, Paul “Triple H” Levesque prompted as much, breaking the silence on Michael Chandler calling out Conor McGregor after a UFC 300 snub.
Consequently, the matter has also attracted the positive attention of Logan Paul, who lauded Chandler’s callout as a brazen promotion of the $21 billion WWE-UFC merger. With UFC CEO Dana White prompting a fall return for McGregor, there’s very little hope for such a face-off. Hence, the fight bubble desperately shifts to Chandler’s slated future in this exciting merger.
Michael Chandler puts Finn Bálor at ease on a possible square-off
Conor McGregor’s online rant after Michael Chandler claimed to be stronger than Irishman was met with hard proof. His squatting 315lbs ahead of such a hyped fight is one prime example. The fighter had been accordingly shaping up for such a fight but in vain. There isn’t one on the horizon.
Hence, Chandler’s very recent association with WWE as a Conor McGregor-shaped fight continues to get postponed, sending fans into a frenzy. But the one person who it rocked more than anyone was WWE star Finn Bálor.
Bálor, an Irish, recently quipped at misunderstanding Chandler’s proposition of facing Irishman McGregor head-on. Concurrently, here’s what Chandler replied in a tweet, to put his mind at ease.
On the sidelines and desperate for a hash-off, Chandler had accepted McGregor’s proposal for a much-anticipated 185-pound clash. And he is not letting go just yet. In no shortage of words, he mentioned in his tweet that the Dubliner has a target on his back.
Only time will tell if such a matchup is ever to take shape and excite the combat sports bubble beyond their levels of anticipation.
