Michael Chandler has proven to be a boon for Dana White and The UFC. Following their unsuccessful trade to bring in another promotional star in Ben Askren failed horribly in 2019, it was doubtful if the UFC would ever agree to bring another big-name star to their organization. However, they took a chance on Michael Chandler and it paid off.

Since his debut, Chandler has put up electric performances. Introducing himself to the lightweight division with a devastating KO of Dan Hooker, he went straight to the top, challenging Charles Oliveira for the vacant title in just his second UFC bout. Though he came up short, the two rounds that the fight lasted were among the most memorable in championship history.

Following this, he opened the main card for UFC 269 against fellow hard-hitting lightweight, Justin Gaethje. The fight had fans on the edge of their seat and jumping on their feet for all 15 minutes adding another HoF-worthy performance to his legacy. Following this, at UFC 274, Chandler would attain the biggest highlight of his career, when he KO’ed Tony Ferguson in the second round via a front kick, the first to put out Ferguson’s lights.

Chandler now has the opportunity to campaign for money fights while the title picture sorts itself out. He had previously called out Conor McGregor at his UFC 274 Octagon Interview, to which the Irishman responded positively. Today during an AMA he held on Twitter, Chandler was asked by a fan, “Anyone, any era, any time who would you like to fight? “

Chandler had the answer in his back pocket and his reply was precise, saying, “GSP, Khabib, Conor” In the past Chandler has called out, Conor multiple times since his debut for the UFC, with Conor having reciprocated the same energy. Although Chandler has also called out Khabib, (most famously in his debut octagon interview) Khabib had not welcomed the idea of fighting Chandler even before he retired as he held his KO loss to Patricio Pitbull against him.

The real new and intriguing addition to this list was GSP. While GSP is an all time great that everyone adores, this is the first time Chandler has hinted an interest in Fighting him. The former two-weight Champion has never fought at lightweight and in his prime was a mechanical welterweight.

How do you think a fight between the two would play out? Would Chandler gain another flash KO over another all-time great or will GSP simply smother the lightweight contender?
