“ZIP IT!” Michael Chandler shuts Dustin Poirier in response to the latter’s criticism of Chandler’s durability
Michael Chandler- Dustin Poirier
Looks like UFC Lightweight Michael Chandler is not at all fond of Dustin Poirier‘s piece of mind on the trajectory of his career. Chandler was last seen winning in one of the most spectacular fashions in UFC history when he delivered a timelessly brutal front kick knockout of former interim-UFC champion Tony Ferguson. Chandler, the former Bellator MMA lightweight champion is looking forward either for another title shot or a fight against fellow UFC megastar Conor McGregor.
Poirier on the other hand hasn’t fought for half a year and is desperately in need of his next fight which is not even booked yet. Poirier was last seen in his second undisputed title fight against former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 in December 2021. Unfortunately for Poirier, he lost via third-round submission. It’s not sure where Poirier wants to fight next, will he stay at lightweight or move up to welterweight.
Michael Chandler attempts to school in Dustin Poirier in a creative response video
In an interview with legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas, Poirier talked about Michael Chandler’s chances in a fight against Conor McGregor. Poirier basically said “I think Conor is a dangerous fight for him, I am not saying Chandler’s chinny or anything, but he gets hurt in a lot of his fights and guys like Conor, they can punch… If you’re getting hurt by Tony Ferguson and dropped by Charles Oliveira, guys like me, guys like Conor, if we touch your chin, it’s gonna be bad.“
Chandler took to Twitter to react to an article that covered Poirier’s words, he basically uploaded a video of him on Twitter and wrote in the caption “Step into my office and shhhhhh…” In the video, Chandler takes the phone indicating that he is talking to Poirier, tells Poirier to step into his office and keeps the phone’s camera on in a box that he later closes. He then tells Poirier through his voice from outside the box that no one considers his MMA math and to just “zip it.” Watch the clip below.
What do you make of Chandler’s out of the box response to Poirier’s criticism? Do you think these 2 will fight at some point in their respective careers? Who do you think would win between the two if they fight? Where do you put Chandler amongst the all-time fan favourite fighters?
