The “Notorious” Conor McGregor will make his return to the UFC in the foreseeable future. Early 2024 is the set estimate, with rumors of McGregor fighting at UFC 300. His rumored opponent, Michael Chandler, has waited for him a long time. Both McGregor and Chandler coached against each other in season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. Chandler used NFL QB Aaron Rodgers to mock McGregor in the latest tweet.

Reeling from an Achilles injury, the NFL legend will likely make a remarkable return ahead of schedule. Rodgers claimed he could comeback as soon as next month from injury where athletes take a year to recover from. This has drawn flack from Chandler, throwing shade on the Irishman. This is what Chandler said:

In what was a devastating blow to New York Jets fans, the former Super Bowl winner suffered an injury in the first game of the NFL season. Aaron Rodgers returning will boost the Jets. Chandler used Rodgers’ determination to get back on the field to mock Conor McGregor. The Irishman has not fought in over two years.

The injury he sustained in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier put McGregor on the sidelines. The injury, a badly broken ankle, required surgery, and a titanium device insert. Since then, he has recovered fully, and fans expect him to return soon.

Conor McGregor is a former champion and owner of a multi-million dollar beverage line. The “Notorious” is also notoriously outspoken about his views on different MMA topics and on dealing with callouts and challenges.

Meanwhile, Michael Chandler has relentlessly called out the Irishman to face him. They acted as opposing coaches for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). Chandler expects to put on a show against McGregor. He has made numerous callouts and mockeries to McGregor and accused the Irishman of ducking him. As of late, the Irishman took to X and posted a mimic of one of Chandler’s famed callouts.

Chandler had ended his fight with former interim champion Tony Ferguson early in the second round of UFC 274 with a massive frontkick knockout. In the post-fight Octagon interview, he had called out to an array of opponents, including McGregor. The Irishman made a point to mimic the callout exactly as it was. Conversely, as it turns out, this was not the only time he mocked Chandler with such a voice note.
