In the past few months, Michael Chandler has been engaged in an improbable squabble of what-ifs with UFC superstar Conor McGregor. As such, the two were progressively set to face each other. Unfortunately, the bout is clouded in uncertainty due to McGregor’s postponed comeback to the UFC.
Recently, McGregor confirmed sending samples to the USADA testing pool in anticipation of his return. The Notorious had also posted training videos displaying his submission ability. As an apt retort, Chandler made a callback to his heightened wrestling career, with a video of his own. The video has Chandler crunching over an opponent, before tossing him with a massive wrestling throw.
Chandler, having a wrestling background, had had immense ground control over his fighters. He is a good grappler, with adequate ground game. He also infuses numerous wrestling holds and throws into his style. Statistically, his latest streak is a mixture of 4 wins and 3 losses. His last win was against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. Now, he earnestly waits to fight McGregor.
Both McGregor and Chandler served as head coaches for The Ultimate Fighter season 31. But in-ring, their bout is yet to come to fruition.
