The MMA world has waited for a long time for the return of Conor McGregor. As such, ‘The Notorious’ announced his comeback fight against Michael Chandler on New Year’s Eve. However, the UFC hasn’t disclosed the fight officially. It left Chandler in constant uncertainty as he had already waited a year for this matchup. Now, UFC lightweight Renato Moicano trolled Chandler for ‘begging’ to fight the Irishman.

Renato Moicano weighed in on Michael Chandler’s chances of fighting Conor McGregor. As such, he stated Chandler was desperate to fight ‘The Notorious’ and would do anything for it. However, he wasn’t a fan of Chandler’s demeanor as he downplayed to the favor of McGregor. Here is what he said:

Michael Chandler is so desperate to get this fight. He’s almost begging. He’s almost on his knees, ‘McGregor fight me!’ I just think that’s hilarious... Chandler is saying, ‘Yes, yes, of course!’ On his knees all the time.

Renato Moicano found his name uttered in an exchange between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler last December. In an attempt to taunt the American fighter, the Irishman suggested Chandler fight Moicano in the main event of UFC 300. In response, Moicano joined McGregor and trolled Chandler, stating he was an easy fight for him.

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler was expected to go down last year at the end of The Ultimate Fighter. However, for various reasons, the fight never announced a date. Only at the dawn of 2024 did ‘The Notorious’ unveil his fight date. However, still the UFC hasn’t officially confirmed the news. As for Renato Moicano, he is to fight this weekend in UFC Vegas 85 against Drew Dober.

Renato Moicano advises Michael Chandler to change his approach towards Conor McGregor

The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 featured Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler as opposing coaches to create hype around their fight. However, except for a few moments, there was no exchange to be remembered between them. Also, the play has been Chandler accepted whatever McGregor offered. As such, Renato Moicano advised ‘Iron’ to change his approach and make it fun.

Renato Moicano encouraged Michael Chandler to trash talk with Conor McGregor to make it entertaining for the fans. Here is what Moicano said:

I think if Chandler approaches this differently, trying to trash talk, that would be even better... McGregor tries to play him and he says OK. No, talk trash, talk s*** about him, because that’s the way we like to watch fights with McGregor.

As analyzed by Renato Moicano, Michael Chandler underplayed his exchanges with Conor McGregor. Except for a few taunts, he mostly agreed with whatever ‘The Notorious’ said. Even when McGregor announced the fight to be at middleweight, Chandler had no rebellion. Anyway, their matchup is yet to be officially announced by the UFC.
