UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal has some answering to do to fellow welterweight Michel Pereira. The Brazilian 170-pounder has revealed the reason behind his beef with “Gamebred”.
Michael Pereira got a well-deserved win against Santiago Ponzinibbio yesterday and already has an opponent in mind. Pereira took on Santiago at UFC Vegas 55 and got a decision victory. Following his win, while addressing the media, Michel bought up an interesting beef that he has with the superstar of his division, Jorge Masvidal.
According to Michel, “Gamebred” has made a move on his wife by sliding into the DM. Pereira is confused as to why Masvidal would approach his wife instead of talking to the “Demolidor” first. In the post-fight press conference, Pereira with the help of his translator cleared things up and officially made a call out to Masvidal.
“So he sent an emoji to my wife, the emoji with the two hands together [🙏🏾], the ‘Amen’. He sent it to my wife and didn’t send it to me. I never crossed paths with him, never actually asked him, so I figured…I really want to understand so might as well understand inside the octagon,” said Michel in the post-fight press conference addressing his beef with Masvidal.
Is Jorge Masvidal vs Michel Pereira the fight to make?
With his win over Santiago Ponzinibbio, Pereira extended his win streak to 5 fights in a row. The Brazilian is finally going to enter the top 15 of the welterweight rankings. In his last five fights, he has one finish and four decision wins. Despite not having finished his opponents, Pereira has put on a show every time he steps into the octagon.
Michel has been calling out Masvidal since 2020. Jorge is coming off three straight defeats against the top two fighters in the welterweight division. Masvidal is coming off a devastating defeat against his nemesis, Colby Covington at UFC 272. Since his loss, Masvidal has not indicated his return to the octagon.
