UFC middleweight Sean Strickland shocked the world by dominating champion Israel Adesanya for five rounds straight to clinch the title. The bout in Sydney, Australia, proved to be one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. Nobody thought a #5 ranked Strickland would beat a skilled fighter like Adesanya. But, the American national successfully pulled off a major upset at UFC 293.

Despite his victory, Strickland recently came out with a tweet, sharing an incident from UFC 293. On his Twitter account, Strickland tweeted, ” After I punched that fan in Sydney the UFC gave me a bodyguard (thanks for not pressing charges) But the bodyguard.. My god was an absolute savage. Told me one special forces story and from that, I will forever feel like a pu**y in comparison..

In the buildup to UFC 293, Strickland had some controversial situations. One of the fans in Sydney, who claimed to be an Israel Adesanya fan, charged Strickland in order to provoke him. This led to Strickland punching the fan. Later, however, no charges were filed against the now middleweight champion. Because of this situation, UFC reportedly hired a bodyguard for Strickland in Australia.

Many fans have called Strickland a ‘troublemaker’ because of his controversial statements in the media. But in spite of his image, the American national has never lacked passion in the octagon. After every win, he has shown love to his fans. No one expects a different side of Sean Strickland after achieving the biggest glory of his career.

The newly crowned middleweight champion Sean Strickland has not stepped back from his usual antics. In an interview, the champion recently spoke about his game plan for the title fight. Though he didn’t follow it, Strickland has a probable reason for this decision.

Strickland and his coaches trained a lot of grappling in his training camp for the fight. His opponent, Israel Adesanya, is known as one of the finest strikers on the planet. Fight fans and analysts would consider an approach to stand and bang with Adesanya as a blunder. Many even suggested Strickland use his wrestling to gain an upper hand in this matchup. However, the 32-year-old chose to keep the fight standing. Surprisingly, Strickland outstriked the former champion for three consecutive rounds in a dominating fashion.

When explaining his reason for opting to strike, Strickland hilariously called himself ‘a little autistic’ for not following the game plan. The UFC 293 main event was indeed one of the biggest upsets in the competition. The newly crowned middleweight champion Sean Strickland defied all odds to cement his name in the history books.
