“You need to start barking at this kid!” Mike Breeden reveals ‘Barking’ mid-fight was planned to mentally attack Indian debutant Anshul Jubli at UFC 294

Mike Breeden gained a lot of notoriety at UFC 294 against Anshul Jubli. The fight was set up for Jushli to announce the Indian presence in the UFC. However, Breeden had other plans. He barked at Jubli amidst the fight, ultimately knocking the Indian out cold in round 3. Breeden was down two rounds on all scorecards going into the third.
Ariel Helwani recently interviewed Breeden on the MMA Hour. He was asked about the fight and especially about barking amidst the fight. This is what he told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour:
They're like you need to start barking at this kid. You need to start making noise and um every the whole time I was down there during between every round I kept getting reminding, you know audible FS. Let's get after this kid be a dog and I don't know just hearing that over and over again I just started barking at him so I don't know where it came from it just I just started doing it.Mike Breeden on the MMA Hour.
Breeden faced off against Jubli in the main event of the early prelims of UFC 294. Breeden who has lost all of his three fights was obviously put as a lay-up match for Jubli, who is currently the only male Indian fighter in the UFC. Jubli won the Road to UFC Lightweight tournament and was pegged for big things with the UFC. However, he had his unbeaten record tarnished by Breeden.
Even though Mike Breeden entertained the crowd with a wonderful performance that even made the Arab crowd chant “USA,” the organizers did not award him a post-fight bonus. He had earlier missed weight by 3.5 pounds, and the UFC does not give bonuses to fighters who miss weight. The bonuses at UFC 294 were awarded to Islam Makhachev, Ikram Aliskerov, Said Nurmagomedov, and Muhammad Mokaev.
Mike Breeden hopes the UFC will re-sign him after his final fight
In the recent MMA Hour interview with Ariel Helwani, Mike Breeden revealed that the fight against Anshul Jubli at UFC 294 was his final fight on his current contract. Breeden, in the interview, said that his management team and the UFC would sort it out, but as of yet, there have been no words from the UFC.
Nevertheless, Breeden had confidence in the UFC signing him.
This is what Breeden told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour when asked whether he was confident of getting re-signed:
Yeah, I don't see why not. I mean, I'm an entertainer, man. Like, why wouldn't you want that? Did you see the whole card that night? I had that place rocking. I mean, I put my hand, and they were going cr*zy because I was just all action. So, I mean, if they didn't like that and don't want to reach me, I don't know. I don't know what else to do, you know what I'm saying? It is what it is.
Breeden currently has a 1-3 win-loss record with the UFC. His first three fights in the UFC were against Alexander Hernandez, Natan Levy, and Terrance McKinney. Levy won by decision whilst Hernandez and McKinney won by first round TKO. If Breeden keeps on winning, the UFC would likely re-sign him.
