“Most inspirational fighter,” Mike Davis admires Dustin Poirier’s presence for the growth of his career in a heartfelt tweet

Dustin Poirier- Mike Davis

Fair enough to say Dustin Poirier has inspired many people on his way to becoming a 2-time UFC title challenger and Mike Davis is one of them. Poirier, the former UFc featherweight whose transition to lightweight was the most significant decision of his career, has an illustrious career of wins with huge names of former world champions on his list. Those victories include Max Holloway (twice), Conor McGregor (twice), Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje, Anthony Pettis, Bobby Green, Diego Fereira, Diego Brandao, Dan Hooker and many more.

Poirier has been the former UFC interim champion as well. Other than being a fighter, Poirier is a food enthusiast and therefore runs a successful enterprise with his hot sauce company. Poirier is also involved in a lot of charity work for many years through his Good Fight Foundation. Poirier trains at the American Top Team alongside the likes of Jorge Masvidal, Mateusz Gamrot, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and many more.

In a tweet by Mike Davis who trains at Pete White Boxing & MMA, he talks about Dustin Poirier in a tweet. He says: “Who’s the most inspirational fighter to me ? @DustinPoirier I’ve done camps with him, traveled the world with him, fought and won in the same cage, saw how he is out of the cage. How grateful he is for his family, how he handles day to day life, I look up to him. Good man!” Davis is 9-2 in his overall MMA career with 2-1 record in the UFC, he last fought in January 2021.

What do you make of Davis’ appreciation for Poirier? Where do you put Poirier amongst the greatest UFC non-champion fighters of all time? Do you think Poirier has still got what it takes to become a UFC champion anytime soon in the future? Poirier is looking desperately for a fight this year since the beginning of 2022 but hasn’t got any fight finalised yet. Now that his primary call-out target, Nate Diaz is nearly finalising his last fight deal in the UFC against Khamzat Chimaev, who do you think should Poirier fight?
