Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson has seen some of the greatest sporting personalities on its couch. The most recent one is one of the biggest fight fans and UFC boss Dana White. In the engaging podcast episode, Dana revealed how HBO boxing commentators made poor remarks about Mike Tyson during his legendary walkouts. He highlighted one particular walkout as an example for the episode.
Dana White shared about the feeling of excitement that fans would feel when Tyson walked out. However, during those walkouts, HBO commentators used to pass disgraceful comments on Tyson and his personality. Dana said, “I hated the commentary on HBO Boxing. I used to literally watch HBO Boxing and mute it just so that I couldn’t hear them.”
He went on to show Mike Tyson a video from his earlier walkouts where the commentators disrespected Tyson. White said, “I couldn’t stand listening to these clowns. They’re sh*tting on him during the whole walkout.” Dana White always had issues with boxing and its promoters.
Further, White also spoke about Mike Tyson’s walkouts being the ideal foundation for building the UFC production and commentary. He claimed that he never wanted his commentators to talk ill about any fighters from the organization. Coming up as a fight fan and promoter, he tried to structure the sport to respect fighters. White stated that fighters are the reason why fans tuned in.

At the press conference of Power Slap, Dana White went on a rant against Showtime Boxing. He started by praising the Power Slap production team for conducting the events in an organized manner. Further, he compared them to Showtime Boxing and how they held their events.
He spoke about Showtime’s matchups and their failed attempts to secure more PPV buys. He also spoke about their long ring walkout time and the unnecessary need for a crowd in the ring before the fight. White called them ‘The worst production team of all time.’ He fired another shot by claiming that the journalists could do a better job in production than Showtime.
A journalist from the press conference asked White if he would help Showtime in consulting, and White answered, “There’s no helping them out. They have been in the game longer than anyone. They are the worst.” Ironically, White promoted the infamous Mayweather vs. McGregor fight with Showtime in 2017.
