MMA community goes wild as Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno quadrilogy comes to anti-climatic end

Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and interim flyweight champion Brandon Moreno squared off in the co-main of UFC 283. The two fighters had previously met three times inside the octagon and had a 1-1-1 record against one another going into the match. 

The first round began with Moreno immediately getting a successful takedown. Then Figueiredo managed to get Moreno in a guillotine choke. Eventually, the Mexican got out of the hold and the fight went back on to feet.  Both the fighters went on to connect a few kicks before Figueiredo managed to get Moreno into an ankle lock.  However, Moreno slipped out of it as the round came to an end.

The second round was dominated by Figueiredo, first, he managed to take down Moreno after getting hold of his kicks. Then he countered Moreno’s punches with a hook of his own. Figueiredo even escaped a takedown quickly to lock Moreno in a guillotine hold. As the round was about to end Moreno tried to get some offense.

The third round started with Moreno on the front foot. Figueiredo complained about an eye poke from Moreno but the fight went on. Moreno managed to take Figueiredo to the ground and kept bashing his opponents from the top. The round ended with Figueiredo with a big swollen right eye. The fourth round was canceled after Figueiredo’s doctor declared him unable to continue the fight after his eye was completely shut down.

Brandon Moreno has emerged victorious as the new undisputed Flyweight champion under controversial circumstances. The Brazillian crowd booed him after an alleged eye poke from the Mexican left the Brazilian incompetent to continue the match. So let’s take a look at how fans and other fighters reacted to the ending.

Brandon Moreno has emerged victorious and also has the upper hand in the tetralogy of fights between the two fighters. In fact, it was the tetralogy of fighters between any two fighters in the UFC. But, the controversial left hand which caused such damage to Deiveson’s eye that stopped the fight forced fight fans and pros to differ in their opinion.

After the way this fight ended, it seems fans are looking forward to a  fifth match in this rivalry. Brandon is the new king of the Flyweight division and has never been defeated in UFC other than losing to Figueiredo at UFC 270.
