UFC Fight Night 209: Ciryl Gane vs Tai Tuivasa saw the MMA leader’s debut in the country of France. With MMA not an illegal sport anymore in the country, the UFC put on a banger card for its debut.
In the main event of the UFC Paris card, two heavyweights were scheduled to go to war against each other for making their case for a shot at the title. Paris’ own Gane was a – 560 heavy favourite going into the fight while Tuivasa was a +430 underdog.
The main event started with a huge pop from the crowd with the French crowd singing their national anthem. The fight went as per the Frenchman’s game plan as he executed the ‘Bon Gamin’ style’ and put on a technical masterclass for the fans.
Although the Frenchman was hurt badly in the second round he made a comeback and took over the fight via brutal body shots. The body shots took away Tuivasa’s agility and endurance and he came crashing onto the mat in the final minutes of the third round. Bon Gamin finished the fight with some ground and pound and bagged the win in his home country.

This was Gane’s first win after coming up short against the Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou at UFC 270. The loss was the first in his MMA carrier. However, such a huge win over a top contender surely puts him in the title picture once again.
MMA fans on Twitter reacted to the fight with some fans calling Gane the future of the Heavyweight division. Some even praised Tuivasa for fighting his heart out in the ring.
