‘Non existent wins and missing losses’- Top journo shines a light on Askar Mozharov’s fraudulent MMA record
Askar Mozharov
Ukrainian fighter, Askar Mozharov has faced a lot of heat lately for his professional record which seems to be wrong. The fighter is a top light heavyweight prospect but his record of 25-7 was manipulated and wasn’t true. It was later found that the fighter has a record of 21-12 which was shocking.
Things got out of hand when it was discovered that the new record was not true and the fighter is actually 19-12 which is a massive fall from his initial one. While talking about the matter, during the UFC VEGAS 56 media day, Mozharov said to MMA Junkie :
“I spent so much time since the age of 18 fighting professional fights and pretty much fighting everyone that I could..I don’t build my record or whatever, but a lot of the fights I had were in China. Those organizations don’t add fights after, so you have to really pursue it to make sure that they add the fights that you had and make sure that you have it on record.”
Askar Mozharov’s professional record manipulation
The research about the true records was done by the team of Sherdog. The team did some extensive data collection on Mozharov’s past fights and results. According to their research and data, it has been found that the fighter has been faking his record efficiently to trick the fans.
Sherdog’s editor Jay Pettry recently tweeted about this matter and called it shocking.
He wrote :
“Following up on something from last night, the Askar Mozharov saga continues. Once 21-12, he is now officially 19-12. The Fight Finder team located events he “competed” at, and he was nowhere to be seen. Other event dates shifted, and we have the new tally now. Wild. #UFCVegas56.”
He continued by saying that in this sport a lot of things take place but he has never seen something like this ever.
“I’ve never seen anything like this at the major level of this sport. I’ve seen fraud, fiction, and all sorts of nonsense, but to have six nonexistent wins and five very real missing losses is truly shocking.”
Mozharov made his professional debut back in 2013 and was part of many local Ukrainian MMA promotions. The fighter finally got his huge fight after getting a chance in PFL and winning a bout. After then the fighter got an opportunity to fight in UFC but due to visa problems, the fighter lost three opportunities to make his debut. Finally, after multiple bout cancellations, Mozharov is all set to take on Alonzo Menifield this Saturday night, June 4 at UFC Vegas 56.
