Muhammad Mokaev is no stranger to controversy. The fighter British-Russian fighter once again was put under the hot seat after UFC released their fight card for the upcoming event, UFC London.

Of all the English fighters fighting on the card this weekend in the event headlined by Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes, Muhammad happens to be the only one that opted to not represent the English flag. The fighter has already been under a lot of scrutinies for his representation as he comes of Russian origin. Muhammad accompanies the long list of fighters like Tom Aspinall, Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann, Marc Diakiese, Nathaniel Wood, and Jai Herbert as fighters who are from England.

Muhammad Mokaev was asked by fans to explain his choice of using the Union Jack instead of the English flag. Mokaev was not hesitant to reply to the fans and wrote, “I represent whole UK, I ain’t playing these games between the nations.” The fighter also added a hashtag that said peace to make sure he does not want to indulge in geo-politics.

‘The Punisher’ will face Charles Johnson in his fight at UFC London. The two will meet in an exciting flyweight matchup which helps them put the division on notice. Muhammad is an undefeated 7-0 fighter with one ‘No Contest’ bout. Meanwhile, Charles is an 11-2 fighter who is making his debut in the biggest MMA promotion.

UFC London is set to take place at the O2 Arena and there is no doubt that Muhamad will have the crowd rooting for him. Johnson will be fighting in the big stage for the first time and it is a huge task for the debutant to fight against not only Muhammad but also 17,000 other fans who will be rooting against him.

Muhammad is coming off an amazing submission victory against Cody Durden at UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs Aspinall at the O2 Arena in London three months ago. The fighter won via a guillotine choke and stunned the entire crowd earning him a performance bonus. The two flyweights are already off to a fiery start with banter on social media.
