“Put me on Main” Muhammad Mokaev is extremely disappointed after being placed in the Prelims for UFC London

Muhammad Mokaev

Muhammad Mokaev is truly one of the most exciting prospects to enter the UFC in the last 5 years. The undefeated Brit has an amazing record of 7 wins and no losses. This stat is only overshadowed by his iconic amateur run of 23 straight victories. What’s more, he is only 21 years old.

Starting his amateur career at just 15 years of age, there was heavy talk of him becoming the youngest MMA world champion even before his amateur run was coming to a close. At 21 he has two more years to beat Jon Jones’s record of becoming world champion at 23 years old.

Mokaev celebrates his first round finish over Cody Durden in his UFC Debut

He proved that the hype was worth it when he was signed to the UFC and debuted on the company’s return to England. Fighting at the prelims for UFC London in March of 2022, the young Brit with Dagestani roots displayed an incredible skill set in the octagon, mixing it up with strikes, knees and effective grappling that all Dagestani’s have become known for. He was able to get a first-round submission victory over Cody Durden, making a mark in his debut and also beating the racism out of Durden.

Hence it was a surprise to all when one of the UK’s most promising fighters was relegated to the prelims in the company’s return to the country. Mokaev is scheduled to face Charles Johnson, a fighter with a record of 11-2, however, is stuck in the middle of the prelims according to the latest bout order.

One fan pointed out that a talented fighter such as Mokaev shouldn’t be limited to the prelims, something the fighter also agreed on. Quoting the fan’s reply, he said on Twitter, “What is this? “ expressing disappointment in the fact that he wasn’t able to showcase his talents on prime-time television. He then asked to be given a better spotlight saying, “put me on the main card @UFC”

Mokaev has been training at the American Top Team and has said that the experience there has only polished up his skill set even more and can’t wait to display his developments in front of his home crowd. While his opponent Johnson is making his UFC debut, a flashy win over him might warrant Mokaev a top 15 opponent next.
