“Now he can’t run,” Muhammad Mokaev reveals huge names at 125 lbs as potential opponents for the next fight
Muhammad Mokaev
Muhammad Mokaev is one of the fastest-rising UFC prospects on the current roster. Mokaev was an undefeated amateur mixed-martial artist who at the time won multiple WMMA-IMMAF tournaments from 2018 to 2020. Mokaev then transitioned to the professional path after becoming 23-0 and now he is 8-0 in the professional MMA career. Mokaev is so far 2-0 in the UFC and both his fights took place in his home country of England so far, courtesy of the UFC London event.
Mokaev is setting his destiny to become the youngest UFC champion in history. The record is currently held by light-heavyweight great Jon Jones who became the UFC champion at just the age of 23. Mokaev won his UFC debut via opening round submission against Cody Durden and then won his second UFC fight in a dominant fashion over Charles Johnson, specifically, via unanimous decision. Mokaev wants to stay active and is therefore looking forward to fighting in October’s Abu Dhabi fight card as well.
Muhammad Mokaev puts Molina, Royval and Elliot in his top choices for his next fight
In an interview with Ariel Helwani at The MMA Hour, Mokaev talks about his prediction of the UFC flyweights’ interim title fight at UFC 277, his thoughts on Paddy Pimblett, receiving a cash prize from Sheikh of Bahrain and much more. Mokaev then talks about who does he wants to fight next, preferably within this year.
“I would love to fight like Jeff Molina, now he can’t run, he’s top 14 now right? So he can’t run, I am here too, you know,” says Mokaev “And there’s Tim Elliott, I heard he doesn’t back down from fights so I hope he accepts this one or [Brandon] Royval, Royval had a close fight with Charles Johnson… let’s see who is better. I want to fight Royval if he accepts the fight in Abu Dhabi. If you say yes, I will sign the contract right now,” concluded Mokaev.
What do you make of Muhammad Mokaev’s choices for his next opponent? Who do you think will give the toughest matchup to Mokaev out of all in the flyweight division? Also, do you think Mokaev’s potential will peak at becoming the youngest UFC champion or the UFC champion in itself? Mokaev is willing to fight next at UFC 280, taking place in Abu Dhabi, who do you think should step up to fight “The Punisher”?
