“Stop Killing Innocent Children” Muhammad Mokaev sends his prayers for Palestinians affected by latest series of bombings on the Gaza Strip by the IDF
Mokaev has advocated for the Palestinian cause in the past too
Muhammad Mokaev has become the latest in the MMA world to raise his voice for Palestine. With a rising number of Muslim fighters joining the UFC, the topic will be a hot potato for the UFC, the next time it’s in the news.
Mokaev knows a thing or two about living under oppressive regimes as he himself escaped one as a child. Born originally in Dagestan, Russia, Mokaev and his family escaped the region in order to avoid the bloodshed that comes along with staying in a war-torn region.
Raised in the UK, Mokaev would go on to have one of the most decorated and flawless amateur MMA careers and find even more success as a pro, being called by the UFC for his 7th pro fight. In the UFC Mokaev would make a splash in his debut with one of the quickest finishes in the division’s history.
The Palestinian cause was first represented in the UFC by fighters like Ramsey Nijem and Belal Muhammad who have roots in the disturbed nation. Recently however big names like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Khamzat Chimaev prominently feature in the discourse regarding Palestine in the MMA world.
Muhammad Mokaev resolves to represent the Palestinian cause in his next fight
The nation of Palestine, originally inhabited by Muslims and Arabs since medieval days saw an influx of Jewish inhabitants returning to their motherland in light of growing antisemitism in Europe around the turn of the 20th century. Fast forward all these years and Jews now have established their own state on their ancestral homelands. This leaves the Arab population under heavy military and government scrutiny.
Over the years an autonomous Palestine has been relegated to a narrow portion of land called the Gaza Strip, an area that is regularly bombed by the IDF citing terrorist threats. Undoubtedly the collateral damage in these scenarios is way too high
Mokaev spoke in favor of the suffering people on his Twitter today. He said, “So messed up what’s going on in Palestine, all media is quiet because Israel are involved! It’s 2022 I’m sure it is possible to make a deal and stop killing innocent children! People fighting for the land, the land where they gonna get buried in!”
Recently after the UFC banned fighters from bringing out flags, a refusal from Dana to shoot straight when asked why the ban had been placed, raised alarm for conspiracy theorists. While the assumed reason could have been the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the heavy concentration of Russian fighters in MMA.
Noticeably the ban was put in place a week or so after Belal Muhammad walked in with a Palestinian flag for his fight against Wonderboy. Rumour mills churned up that Ari Emmanuel, the CEO of the UFC’s parent company may have given the order considering he was born to a father who was a member of Zionist Paramilitary Forces.
