The UFC color commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan is not a huge fan of pro wrestling. Rogan is a massive proponent of martial arts and has himself professionally dabbled in the sport. So, when a guest on his show tried to justify watching pro wrestling, Rogan couldn’t help but laugh at it.
Rick Rubin is a huge record executive and record producer worth over $300 million. He is the founder of American Recordings, co-founded Def Jam Recordings, and was the former co-president of Columbia Records. He has worked with some of the biggest artists and bands to exist and was also given the title of most important producer once.
Apart from all the accolades, Rubin is a big fan of pro wrestling. He indulges in 11 hours of Pro Wrestling a week and takes a lot of inspiration from it. During his time on The Joe Rogan Experience, Rick Rubin expressed his infatuation with Pro Wrestling.“I absolutely love it. I watch more than eleven hours every week. There’s a tremendous amount of pro wrestling on TV. It’s a really beautiful, fine art form, it’s storytelling taken to the next level. It’s beautiful, it’s American opera,” said Rubin.
Although Joe Rogan was interested in the conversation, he could not hold back his laughter. “I’m so engrossed in the world of martial arts competition. To me, it’s nonsense. It’s just like you know, I get that people like it. I just don’t understand it, to me it’s just like yeah yeah. But they know what’s going on. This is fake,” said Rogan, expressing his disinterest in pro wrestling.
Rogan thinks of martial arts as high-level problem-solving, with dire physical consequences. He has also called pro wrestling gay, making it clear that he prefers real violence.
When Joe Rogan got in trouble for saying wrestling is gay
The most famous podcast host in the world has many times made clear his love and respect for martial arts and martial artists. Rogan started learning mixed martial arts when he was a teenager. Since then, he has dabbled in various types of martial arts and competed professionally as well. However, when it comes to pro wrestling, Rogan is not a big fan.
During his podcast with guest and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, the duo discussed pro wrestling. Hinchcliffe tried getting Rogan interested in pro wrestling, but Rogan stated that pro wrestling is gay. Given most hardcore MMA fans think like Rogan, the joke could have slid under the radar. However, Rogan got in huge trouble for his statement.
He received a ton of hateful messages, which Rogan used for one of his standup shows. The UFC color commentator also revealed that he had no idea of passing the statement and felt like it was a funny thing to say at the moment.
