After a massive win in his backyard at UFC Paris, Nassourdine Imavov called out ‘Borrachinha’ Paulo Costa for a Middleweight clash. Imavov is coming off a dominant win over Joaquin Buckley at UFC Paris last weekend.
Imavov is on a 3 fight winning streak after his total domination of Buckley last weekend. He is now ranked #12 in the Middleweight division. In his last outing at UFC 268, he defeated rising contender Edmen Shahbazyan via TKO. After the win, the rising UFC contender from France stated his intention to face the former title challenger Costa for his next bout.
The Frenchman took on Buckley in his recent outing, he dominated the American KO star in the first and the second round. Although he gassed out in the third and Buckley started to take over the round. Even then it wasn’t enough as the Frenchman took the victory on the judge’s scorecard.
On the other hand, Borrachinha is coming off a Fight of the Night war with former Strike Force and UFC Middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold. The fight was a bloody battle between the two elites. Borrachinha took the win via Unanimous decision. He broke his two-fight losing skid after an unsuccessful attempt at the title that broke his perfect undefeated record.

Nassourdine Imavov wasn’t impressed by Paulo Costa’s recent performance at UFC 278
In the post-fight press conference, Imavov gave his reaction to his win against Buckley and his opponent’s words before the fight. The Frenchman then called out Borrachinha for a fight and added that he wasn’t impressed by the Brazilian’s performance against Rockhold. According to Imavov, it’s his time to take a step up in the rankings and fight Paulo.
Addressing the media on his next fight, he stated, “I have to heal first, and I have some injuries. I might need surgery. But as I said, I would like a top-five or top-ten guy, so why not Costa? It’s going to be a completely different fight, so let’s go.”
When asked about if he has watched the Brazilian’s last fight against Rockhold, Imavov stated, “I watched the fight, but it was nothing special, They both got tired. They got really tired during the fight and I think in a way, challenges motivate me, and I think it will be a good fight for me.”
After a win over Buckley, Imavov has certainly proved his case in the Middleweight division. However, a fight with the Brazilian will be a big step up in competition for him. It will be interesting to see if the UFC pair these two Middleweights for a fight.
