Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal fought for the inaugural BMF title at UFC 244 at Madison Square Garden. The buildup to the fight had Diaz from the East Coast take on Masvidal, who hails from the West Coast. However, Masvidal walked away with the BMF title at UFC 244 with Donald Trump in attendance.
The UFC’s recent PPV was in Miami, Masvidal’s hometown, where he enjoys massive support. Masvidal retired from MMA at UFC 287 in Miami the previous year with fanfare from the fans. He was also in attendance at UFC 299, where he received one of the loudest cheers from the fans. Diaz was also in attendance at the event with teammate Jake Shields, who tweeted about it on X. This is what he tweeted.

Rumors speculate a rematch between Diaz and Masvidal could happen in boxing. However, there was no official confirmation available of it. Both fighters are no longer with the UFC. As such, there are no hurdles in place that could stop the fight from happening.
Many celebrities attended UFC 299. Diaz and Masvidal were among those who got the loudest pops. Nonetheless, Donald Trump got the loudest pop as he walked out with Dana White.
Jorge Masvidal encourages Marlon Vera after hard-fought loss at UFC 299
Sean O’Malley outclassed Marlon Vera in the main event of UFC 299. However, O’Malley was unable to knock out the durable Vera. O’Malley even landed a powerful knee flush on the face of Vera but he did not show any emotion. Even UFC CEO Dana White and commentator Joe Rogan praised Vera for his durability.
Jorge Masvidal consoled Vera backstage and even offered words of encouragement for the Ecuadorian fighter. Vera enjoyed fan support at UFC 297 due to the huge Hispanic population in Miami. In addition to Masvidal, Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA also consoled Vera. Sean O’Malley had vowed to knock out Vera before the fight, but the Ecuadorian’s chin remained too strong for O’Malley to crack.
Masvidal knew a thing or two about falling short of a title as he challenged for a UFC title twice. He lost both attempts to Kamaru Usman, first by unanimous decision and the second via brutal KO. Incidentally, his knockout loss was in front of his home crowd in Jacksonville, Florida, at UFC 261.
