“Kick ** homie” Nate Diaz has encouraging words for Anthony Pettis as he heads into his PFL 7 fight
Pettis and Diaz had nothing but praises for the other
Anthony Pettis and Nate Diaz share a special bond in that they’re both veterans of the sport that have not nearly received the respect they deserve. They were bonded in eternity when they faced off in 2019 in Diaz’s highly anticipated return to the octagon and the respect they gained for each other in those 15 minutes carries on for life.
The two went to war all 3 rounds, adding on to the thrill of a packed Diaz arena, and made sure Diaz received the proper welcome he deserved after 3 years away from the Octagon. In the octagon interview, Diaz would say the reason he was away for so long was because no “real” fighters were left in the UFC, insinuating that Pettis is one in Diaz’s eyes.
At a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, where Pettis was present to promote his upcoming PFL playoff fight against Stevie Ray. The two had initially faced off in June when Ray was able to secure the submission victory in just round 2.

In the interview, Pettis was asked by Helwani about his prediction for the upcoming fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate. Pettis firstly cleared it out of the way that the simple fact he took this fight shows he is everything he says he is, that being “a fighter’s fighter”
He praised Nate for not being too caught up in the business aspect of MMA as most modern-era fighters are even calling him “A real G” He even doubted that Nate being Nate might have himself called for this fight just for a chance to stick it up to the UFC on his way out of the door.
Today Diaz returned the favor and used his massive platform to promote the former UFC Lightweight Champion’s upcoming fight. On Twitter he put out a photo of the two, shortly after their bout in 2019.
Wishing Pettis luck, Diaz said, “Good luck to the homie, @ShowtimePettis” he continued, “kick a** tomorrow at PFL” read the tweet. Pettis was scheduled to face Stevie Ray with the winner moving on to the finals
Pettis tested out free agency and has said that he earns a considerably higher amount outside the UFC when things other than the fight purse are bought up. Nate intends to do the same once his contract runs out after fighting Chimaev at UFC 279. Will Diaz be able to walk out with an upset for the ages? Let us know what you think.
