Diaz refuses to fight McGregor on his way out of the UFC
Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor have the unique distinction of both their fights being one of the biggest draws in sports history. Hence it’s no surprise the UFC wants to rebook a fight between the two 7 years after their last fight. However, with Nate on his last legs and last fight on his contract, it seems very unlikely.
Nate Diaz took out the time today to grace the world with his presence on the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani. In the 80 minutes long interview, Diaz talked about everything ranging from his teammate’s schedules to his own aspirations once he leaves the company. Throughout the whole interview, one thing was made certain, Diaz wants to be out of the UFC.
Diaz hasn’t been in the cage since his last fight against Leon Edwards back in June of 2021. He’s asked to be released or be offered a final fight multiple times across multiple platforms only for them to be denied. There are big fights to be made and the UFC certainly doesn’t wish to part ways with that potential income.

Am I supposed to being you back to life before I go? “
Suggesting that Conor work on bringing himself back to life, Diaz hinted that he might be back after that. “What are you gonna do? Fight a guy who just got knocked out, “ said Diaz as he went on a rant about how other fighters who have been knocked out in their careers are simply trying to catch up to him.
Diaz has called out Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler and more frequently Dustin Poirier to fight him in the past year. Dana White revealed that Nate had also accepted a fight against Khamzat Chimaev for a short while before that fell through. On the contrary, Diaz himself has shown more interest in pursuing individual sports like Boxing and Jiu-jitsu, feeling he was trapped in the cage against his options.
