Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev were initially set to rematch in Abu Dhabi for the lightweight title. Dana White announced that Oliveira suffered a severe cut and could not fight at UFC 294. Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has replaced him. However, former UFC fighter Nate Diaz spoke harshly about the incident. He even brought his feud with Dustin Poirier into the mix.

Nate Diaz wrote, “Crotch injury just like Dustin porier.” Diaz and Oliveira never had beef. However, fans felt that this shot at Oliveria remains unwarranted. Nate Diaz feuded with Dustin Poirier over the years. It all happened after the fight between them at UFC 230 did not materialize. There were many obstacles to the fight, and Poirier chose to have surgery instead.

Ever since then, Diaz has feuded with Poirier over the matter. It is possible that Diaz did not intend to trash-talk Oliveira. Instead, he wanted to mock Poirier, and Oliveira got caught in the crossfire. Nevertheless, Diaz found the perfect way to take shots at Dustin Poirier yet again.

The UFC 294 main event featuring Oliveira and Makhachev remained a highly-anticipated event. However, the injury paved the way for Alexander Volkanovski to enter the fray. Volk took the fight on short notice and has the chance to pull out the biggest upset in UFC history if he wins.

Nate Diaz’s take on the UFC 294 fiasco surprised the MMA world. The former UFC fighter went on X (formerly known as Twitter) to take shots at Charles Oliveira. The fans sided with Charles Oliveira. They did not like Diaz taking shots at “Do Bronx.” The fans went on to claim that Oliveira would easily beat Diaz. They even brought up Diaz’s loss to Jake Paul to mock the Stockton superstar.
