Contradicts can exist side by side. Featherweight debutant Aljamain Sterling‘s excitement for his historic UFC 300 card debut has fans hoping for another title run. He faces Calvin Kattar on the card. This was in regards to a segment ‘Funk Master’ had done on his YouTube Channel. However, the same segment had caught some initial flack, on his downsizing Sean O’Malley after the UFC 292 skid, in the same video. Fans have voiced their aggravated responses on the same.

“Suga” the 17-1 bantamweight, bagged the gold after a fateful round two TKO of Sterling. He faces Marlon Vera next for his maiden defense. Speaking in one of his latest videos, Sterling weighed in on his UFC 300 matchup. Additionally, he also goes on to regret taking up the square-off against O’Malley, soon after locking horns with Henry Cejudo. Commenting on O’Malley’s drawing power, he said:

I got the pay-per-view numbers, and me and her were going through it, and I’m just like, ‘These are the numbers that this guy was trying to say he’s this big pay-per-view star?’ ...I rolled the dice. I trusted that the bag was going to be this blow-me-away kind of thing, bigger than all the other ones — it wasn’t. With that being said, it is what it is....

There was initial unrest that resonated with Sterling providing excuses for his loss. Previously Sterling had also mentioned being badgered into facing O’Malley. In a later tweet though, the fighter nudged in that he was sprouting mere facts, which were not made begrudgingly. Check out what he said further:

Context: In hindsight, I should’ve waited. Reality: I didn’t wait. Numbers weren’t the highest PPV I been on as a Champ... NOT worth the squeeze in the end. O’Malley PPV draw power can rise IF he can keep winning...Good luck to Chito and Sean. Merry Christmas

With Sterling’s honest and brutal assessment of the PPV buy-ins, some sentiments have catalyzed more towards him than “Suga”. A recent user replied – “The O’Malley fan boys in here crying crying“. A multitude of fans have responded similarly.

Fans react to Aljamain Sterling disclosing underwhelming PPV buy-in details for UFC 292

Recently Aljamain Sterling, who fights at UFC 300 next, provided an undermining perspective of PPV-buys, at his square-off with Sean O’Malley. He had made a successful title defense against Henry Cejudo at UFC 288, in May. The 23-4 BJJ practitioner later regretted taking up another title defense soon after. Conversely, Cejudo himself mocked the PPV resulting in only $350K. Correspondingly “Suga” mocked him back on the  ‘PPV-shaming’.

Cejudo’s title contention with Sterling had done even lower, just at $135K. “FunkMaster” has now thrown shade on O’Malley’s drawing power in their title fight right afterward. The fighter mentioned expecting more draw-ins for the gravitas and social media presence O’Malley holds. Check out some mixed-bag of subsequent reactions.

Despite proactively trolling O’Malley, a few fans have subsequently gibed back at Sterling as well. Many keen-eyed enthusiasts have ushered in his performance with Cejudo doing even less. Consequently, “Suga” didn’t earn any favors for his “bland” charisma behind the mic, during build-ups.
