Kamaru Usman is a prominent name within the UFC’s welterweight backdrop. The 20-4-0 is out of any current title contention bouts. But the Nigerian once held the top spot for pound-for-pound rankings. So much so that Ex-president Donald Trump had lauded “The Nigerian Nightmare” superseding close acquaintance Colby Covington.

After “Chaos” incurring a recent title skid to Leon Edwards at UFC 296, his fellowship with Trump has seen much flack. The 45th president and Republican Party Nominee for 2024 is up against current POTUS Joe Biden. Speaking at the “Valuetainemnt” podcast with co-hosts Patrick Bet-David, Adam Sosnick, and Vincent Oshana, here’s what Usman had to say:

Obviously, I'm not deep into politics...I just know how it affects me in my pockets and my family...So it - it's difficult when the media is saying a certain thing and they they're painting this picture and that's all you have to go on... I'm one of those that I hold a man by his word so if you say certain things to me then that's what I expect...[With Trump] And it was a lot different than definitely what I expected because - you know at some point based on what the media's paying you, I expect to give them a piece of my mind....

The segment was a part of Episode 241 of the PBD Podcast. Usman nudged into Bet-David and the others that Trump had not been the best communicator during his tenure (2017-2021). This alluded to Trump’s explosive reactions to the Special Counsel investigation and litigation inquest into the 2016 Presidential elections. But he commended on his wit and social awareness.

With travel bans and subsequent refusal to concede after 2020, Trump had caught much heat. Usman also pointed out that Biden was Vice president to Barrack Obama, who he supported by default. But contrary to the picture the media paints, Trump supersedes expectations by far. Correspondingly, Trump has also praised Usman.

Colby “Chaos” Covington is considerably Donald Trump’s favorite UFC fighter. But the buck does not stop there. Trump, the 45th President of The United States, is an avid combative sports fan. He has been in attendance at several star-studded events. Conversely, he also maintains a close acquaintance with WWE’s Vince McMahon.

In between his Senate impeachment recalls and truffle with Joe Biden in 2020, trump was in attendance at many social events. Speaking at a “Latinos For Trump” event at Trump National Golf Club in Doral he addressed Jorge Masvidal, his manager Abraham Kawa, and Masvidal’s father, Jorge Sr. He lauded his “fastest” KO of Ben Askren at UFC 239 in July 2019.

Later, at Cobb Galleria in Atlanta, he praised Kamaru Usman and his manager Ali Abdelaziz. In a more recent interview, Trump also commended Usman on his fight with Leon Edwards, as seen in the footage above. Presently Usman himself returned the favor by praising his geopolitical awareness and wit in the PBD Podcast.
