On September 12th, WWE and UFC completed their merger, which created TKO Group Holdings. The highly awaited deal was completed in creating this new organization. Endeavor CEO Ari Emmanuel confirmed that the company completed its majority stake purchase of WWE. This deal merged the two organizations, i.e. WWE and UFC. This deal got reactions from some UFC stars, including Conor McGregor.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor was one of the first people to have high praise for the new deal. McGregor, on his Twitter account, replied to an ESPN post. He reposted with a caption, “Truly outstanding! Congrats Ari and Co.” This new move has changed the landscape of the combat industry.

This new deal will result in a 51% stake for the Endeavor group. This means that the founder, Vince McMahon, will not hold a majority stake in the company for the first time in the history of WWE. The TKO group will result in many positional changes in the company. Former UFC president Dana White will serve as the CEO of UFC. McMahon will become the executive chairman of TKO Holdings.

In their deal with WWE, Endeavor agreed to create a spin-off between the two organizations. This spinoff resulted in TKO Group Holdings. Reports suggest that this company will be worth $21 billion. This partnership could be huge for the future of both companies. The Irishman McGregor recognized the deal’s potential while congratulating the parties involved.

In 2016, Conor McGregor was living on top of the charts in the UFC. His two championship belts defined his dominance in the game. The difference that Conor brought to the sport and the promotion remains undeniable. And during that time, McGregor did have the wind of his influence.

No one can deny that McGregor brought more eyes to the sport. In 2016, after his success, McGregor reportedly demanded a part in the ownership of UFC. At 28 years old during that time, McGregor was in his prime. And he wanted something in return to assure his loyalty to the promotion. After main eventing many blockbuster events, McGregor demanded something in return. Reports suggest that his involvement with some equity could have insured McGregor’s future with the UFC.

A deal like this never took place in combat sports history. Just the fact of its demands were outrageous. But someone like Conor could only be in such a hierarchical position to make his demands. Later, such a deal never took place. But, it proved one thing: McGregor still will be a huge factor in UFC’s future success.
