“How do you win a spar?” Paddy Pimblett and Daniel Cormier left BAFFLED by Jake Paul’s callout before UFC 282
Paddy Pimblett discusses his weight cut with Daniel Cormier
Paddy Pimblett was recently called out by Jake Paul to a sparring session of five, 3-minute rounds of boxing. This call out from the YouTuber came right before Paddy’s controversial win via a unanimous decision over Jared Gordon.
In a sit-down interview with Daniel Cormier before his fight at UFC 282, the topic of Jake Paul came up and neither Paddy nor Cormier held back. “First off,” began DC, being immediately cut off by Paddy The Baddy, who stole the words out of his mouth as he said, “How do you win a spar?”
DC then jumped in agreement as he continued, “That’s what I’m saying. How the hell do you win a sparring competition? Why would you not get paid your money right away? Tell him ‘F**k off’ unless he gives you a million dollars.”
Pimblett then went on to reveal to DC that he had invited Jake Paul to the UFC Performance Institute to back up his talk. However, the Scouser also revealed that the American boxer had reneged on his words, claiming he had to attend a meeting with the WBA. Pimblett, who was not buying into Jake’s excuses, then said that he was not interested in taking on the challenge on Jake’s terms.
Paddy Pimblett said Daniel Cormier should have slapped Jake Paul back at UFC 261
Jake Paul and Daniel Cormier have had a long, unresolved feud. Things once came to a boiling point at UFC 261 where DC and Paul got into a verbal altercation. Security had to step in immediately to try and separate the two men before things got violent. And judging from what DC said during the Paddy Pimblett interview, he still holds a grudge.
In the same interview, as the two men vented their frustrations with Jake Paul, DC asked Paddy whether he was annoyed at the YouTuber’s attitude. He also added that he was annoyed by Paul to the extent that he had “to get in his face” back at UFC 261.
To this, Paddy said and burst into laughter, “That was great. That was great, lad. You should have slapped him.” To this DC replied, “Oh I wanted to slap him so bad.”
Jake Paul has certainly made his fair share of enemies within the UFC. Dana White, Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, and now Paddy Pimblett. All of these men have at one time or another had a reason to be upset with the undefeated 25-year-old boxer. And it does not look like Jake Paul has any intention of changing his attitude and will certainly continue to act the way he has.
