Paddy Pimblett is facing Tony Ferguson in the upcoming UFC PPV in December. Ahead of this, he gave an interview to SkySports recently. In a particular segment, they discussed Leon Edwards’ next opponent. That was when the interviewer brought up Ian Garry as a possible matchup for Edwards. But ‘Baddy’ dismissed it and claimed that Edwards had knocked him out earlier in training.

Recently, Ian Garry was restricted entry at the Renegade gym in the UK where Leon Edwards trains. Amidst this, Paddy Pimblett said that Garry doesn’t deserve a title shot. Also, since the welterweight champion got the better of Garry in training by knocking him out, he didn’t want to see the Irishman fighting Edwards. Here is what he said:

No, Ian Garry doesn't deserve a title shot. Come on. I mean, Leon's already knocked him out in training, so we don't need to know about that.

Ian Garry has trained at Leon Edwards’ gym often. But now since Edwards’ coach Dave Lovell saw Garry as a potential opponent in the future, he didn’t want the champion to feel insecure said Garry. On the other side, Veronica Hardy from team Renegade said that Ian Garry had disciplinary issues and that was the reason for his omission.

Now, Leon Edwards is defending his title against Colby Covington while Ian Garry has a tough challenge ahead of him in Vicente Luque. Also, Paddy Pimblett faces the veteran Tony Ferguson in a lightweight bout. All these fights go down in the main card of UFC 296 on December 16.

Paddy Pimblett speculates about his next opponent for a possible UFC fight card in the UK

Recently, Tom Aspinall won the interim heavyweight title in UFC 295 to become just the third UFC champion from the UK. After this event, Dana White commented that with two UK champions, Leon Edwards and Aspinall, they could go to the UK one more time in 2024 for a PPV card. As such, Paddy Pimblett was asked how he would build the UK card in the interview with Sky Sports.

Paddy Pimblett suggested Tom Aspinall facing Ciryl Gane and Leon Edwards defending against the winner of Shavkat Rakhmanov/Stephen Thompson for the potential UFC PPV in England. As such he included himself in the fight card and showed his interest in fighting three opponents – Bobby Green, Benoit Saint Dennis, and Jared Gordon.

Paddy Pimblett said that he would’ve chosen Matt Frevola, but since Saint-Dennis beat him, he won’t and chose the latter. On the other hand, Green and Gordon were talking trash about ‘Baddy’ and he wanted those fights to settle the score. However, Paddy Pimblett first fights this December against Tony Ferguson in UFC 296.
