“Choked his a**” Paddy Pimblett is disappointed in his UFC London performance despite his incredible finish over Jordan Leavitt
Pimblett has expressed that he felt he was fighting on emotions rather than skill
Paddy Pimblett might have had the performance of a lifetime against Jordan Leavitt at UFC. Not simply because he was able to finish an opponent who had never been finished before but due to his resilience in fighting through that tough week and coming out with a win.
In the octagon interview, Paddy would reveal that right before weigh ins he was told that one of his best friends had ended his own life. He walked into the cage with the knowledge that his best friend won’t be there to celebrate if he wins after or to console him if he loses.
Regardless Paddy walked into the fight, Electrified his home crowd and managed to walk away with a well deserved win. He was able to secure a submission finish over a decorated grappler such as Jordan and as a cherry on top, was even able to fulfill his promise of tea-bagging Jordan if he were to win.
Paddy Pimblett says he enjoys being punched in the face
At a recent interview with the Pat McAfee show, Pimblett would reveal to the surprise of many that despite his performance he wasn’t too happy with it. “I was disappointed in my performance, I know I still finished him, someone who’s never been finished before, ” said Pimblett of his opponent. He continued, “11 pro fights, one loss and I choked his a** out, he got dealt with the way I knew he would be dealt with.”
Pimblett would reveal that the reason he was disappointed in his performance was because h fought off of his emotions and not skill. “I watched the fight back today and every punch I throw, I’m trying to take his head off, I enjoy getting punched and punching people in the face, it sounds very weird but I enjoy it.” said Pimblett.
Pimblett gained world wide acclaim when he advocated for men’s mental health and how the stigma around men having to be tough ended up with his friend taking his own life. Coming from a fighter who just put another man to sleep, these were powerful words and have increased Pimblett’s already rabid fan base.
Dana White has announced that he intends to showcase Pimblett on a PPV card up next. While initial rumours hint at a MSG appearance for UFC 281, Pimblett has hinted he won’t take the fight considering the high taxes in New York.
