UFC 282 co-main event fight between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon managed to upset quite a few people in the MMA fraternity. However, the Liverpool star finds it ridiculous that his peers thought the judge’s decision should have gone the other way.
Nate Diaz, Joe Rogan, Dominick Cruz, Belal Muhammad, and many other UFC aces were stunned by the decision of the judges for the co-main event fight. A three-round scrap between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon, where many pros were leaning towards the latter to take the fight was surprised when the judges scored the contest, 29-8 X 3 to the Scouse fighter.
At the post-fight press conference, Pimblett addressed all the doubters and said, “Look at my face and look at Jared’s. I don’t care what anyone says, lad. When you look back in the history books, I’ve got a little green mark next to my name. So everyone else can suck me a**hole.” Nate Diaz and other pros weren’t alone in the upsetting reaction to the co-main event, fans also showed outrage and bashed the Nevada Commission for “robbing” Jared Gordon of a much-deserved victory.
UFC 282 has been a very weird experience for the superstar. The fighter usually has a very “loving” response from the fans when he fights but this time, be it for his performance inside the octagon or his antics outside. His beef with Ariel Helwani sure has accounted for the fighter’s bad rep in the eyes of the fans.
Some of the pros’ reactions to Paddy Pimblett’s controversial win
While many of the UFC pros took to Twitter to let out their outrage, Joe Rogan, the UFC commentator was seen showing disappointment with the decision inside the octagon in fan footage. Paddy Pimblett in another interview responded to Rogan claiming it was a “close fight” in the octagon. “I’m pretty pissed off, to be honest, that Joe Rogan came in and said that was a close fight. It wasn’t a split decision, it was a unanimous decision, so I’m pretty pissed off the people that I lost. It’s annoying me,” said Pimblett.

What's a decision that was worse than that?
Paddy is down 2-0 despite a strong finish to R2. He needs a finish in Round 3!

The co-main event wasn’t the only fight that went to the judges’ decision. Following the controversial decision, the judges then went on to score the main event title fight between Jan Blachowicz and Magomed Anakalaev as a split draw causing chaos in the octagon. The vacant light heavyweight title remained vacant and Ankalaev revealed he was leaving the organization after the fight.
