Pat Barry claims Sean Strickland’s distasteful comments on Rose Namajunas’ relationship caused the shocking performance at UFC 274
Sean Strickland comments on Rose Namajunas' relationship affected fight says partner Pat Barry
Things have been going well for Rose Namajunas and her partner Pat Barry since UFC 274. Recently, Pat blamed Sean Strickland for his distasteful comments on their relationship.
Leading up to the huge PPV event of UFC 274, Sean Strickland had some very controversial comments to make about Rose Namajunas and Pat Barry’s relationship. The middleweight fighter accused Pat of being a “groomer” in some tweets and Pat claims those comments messed with Rose’s mind leading up to the strawweight title fight.
Rose has been catching a lot of heat for her performance against Carla and in the recent episode of MMA Hour, her coach, Pat Barry came out in defense of her and suggested Sean’s comments played a part in the terrible performance from Namajunas. “This whole Sean Strickland thing that is all over the place everywhere,” said Barry when asked what went wrong.
According to Barry, it was a misinterpretation that made people believe he met Rose when she was only 14 years old. Sean took this article as a reference and called Pat Barry the “Weinstein of MMA”. According to Barry, the strawweight fighter took this controversy to the heart and could not give her 100 percent.
Sean Strickland responds to Pat Barry’s comments
“Here’s the thing guys 99 percent of what I say is usually wrong.. This is not that time.. @rosenamajunas@TheAspenLadd like my post if you need help. I’ll treat Pat Berry and Jim West like they treat minor.. Without consent, although it won’t be behind closed doors lmao!” wrote Strickland on Twitter replying to Pat’s comments.
Rose and Pat’s relationship has always been under the microscope given their age difference. The age difference has surfaced on the internet several times and Rose has had to hear a lot of comments from the MMA community over it. When Strickland called Barry the “Weinstein of MMA”, Pat claims that it affected Namajunas’ performance.
