UFC 294 is going to present some of the most entertaining matchups on the UFC roster. Despite all eyes being on the main event title fight, no fan can turn a side-eye towards the co-main event between Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev. Before their much-anticipated fight, Costa shared a few words about his opponent, Chimaev, in an interview with MMA Hour.
In the interview, Costa said, “I truly believe, in 100 times, I can beat him like 99%. I have all the tools to beat this m***********. You know? He’s like a pro wrestler, he has nothing to me. He has big head, long arms, slim body. He will do nothing against me. I will defend his first takedown and I’m gonna knock him out.”
He added, “So I want this fight so bad that’s why I still in this fight. I did a surgery but I don’t care. I’m gonna be there anyway, these guys need to, you know, he need to run too much to escape from me. I’m here to beat him.”
Paulo Costa, on his social media, revealed that he underwent surgery on his right elbow. With just five weeks remaining for UFC 294, Costa’s recovery is indispensable for him.
Costa’s last fight was against former UFC fighter Luke Rockhold at UFC 278. Rockhold, who was already past his prime, struggled to keep up with Costa’s pressure. After a good brawl that lasted all three rounds, Costa was awarded the win by the judges. However, this time his opponent is going to be Khamzat Chimaev, a skilled wrestler who is known to dominate his fights.

Paulo Costa’s coach Eric Albarracin confident about the UFC 294 bout
UFC middleweight Paulo Costa’s right-arm elbow injury has put everyone in doubt over the co-main event. Fans believe that this injury could lead to Costa pulling out of the fight. The Brazilian’s surgery update came just five weeks before the scheduled fight. But, despite all the circumstances, coach Eric Albarracin has shown confidence in his fighter to compete at UFC 294.
Albarracin said that Costa has had a great training camp. After his stitches were removed he was reportedly sparring against international fighters who had an Olympic wrestling background. After the removal of Costa’s stitches, the Brazilian did great in the camp, according to Albarracin.
October 21st is going to be a huge test for Paulo Costa as he takes on a formidable opponent in Khimzat Chimaev. ‘Borz’ has barely been hurt in any of his fights, excluding Gilbert Burns. Further, his potential is currently unmatched in the UFC, which has already made him a star. However, Costa and Chimaev can test their hype in the octagon on October 21st.
