“He is 6-2 in UFC” – Paulo Costa gets ‘Colby Covington treatment’ from Dana White & co, claims contender as Brazilian lands Robert Whittaker fight

Dana White recently announced many fights for early 2024. One of those fights is a middleweight clash between Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker for UFC 298. Middleweight contender Brendan Allen did not seem to like the fight, particularly for Costa. Moreover, he even compared Costa to Colby Covington, who has a history of inactivity.
Allen used his X to vent his frustration. This is what he tweeted, along with the fight record he posted of Costa and himself.
I’ve never pulled out of a fight in my life, I’ve never missed weight in my life. Paulo 6-2 in the ufc, who he ever really beat anyway? Not a single win over anyone who ain’t retired now… Paulo the new Colby.
Allen found similarities between Paulo Costa and Colby Covington. He stated that the duo always received big fights despite being inactive. Covington got two title shots in the welterweight division without even a win streak. Whittaker is the division’s former champion, and a win over him could put Costa in the title picture.
Allen last fought Paul Craig and won by submission. It was his fourth straight rear naked choke finish in the middleweight division. He called out Whittaker, Jared Cannonier, and Khamzat Chimaev after the victory. Moreover, he hinted at interest in fighting at UFC 300, which still has some available slots.
Paulo Costa faces Robert Whittaker on the stacked UFC 298 PPV
Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria will fight for the featherweight title in the main event of UFC 298. A bantamweight fight between Henry Cejudo and Merab Dvalishvili is also on the PPV. Now, Dana White has announced Paul Costa vs. Robert Whittaker for the event.
At UFC 298, Costa and Whittaker can fight for the title next. Sean Strickland will defend his title at UFC 297 against Dricus Du Plessis and the timing could be no better for Costa and Whitaker. Costa last fought at UFC 278 against Luke Rockhold and won unanimously. Whittaker is coming off a loss to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 290.
UFC 298 will also showcase a highly anticipated fight between Ian Machado Garry and Geoff Neal in the welterweight division. Moreover, Tatiana Suarez will fight former title challenger Amanda Lemos at the event in a fight that has title implications. Nevertheless, Costa and Whittaker will very likely be the co-main event of the PPV event.
