Costa has laid heavy accusations of the drug testing agency
For the wild man, Paulo Costa is, it should be no surprise that he will pick a fight with anyone, even USADA. A common joke among the MMA community is how no one has any idea as to how Costa manages to stay clean in all his tests, today Costa accused USADA of grave wrong doing with his samples.
Paulo Costa last saw action in 2021, when he faced off against fellow top middleweight, Marvin Vettori. The fight, lasting all 5 rounds was an instant classic and would’ve been remembered more fondly if it weren’t for the antics that preceded the event. This was the event where Costa infamously refused to make weight.
Walking in at over 40 pounds over the middleweight limit of 185, Costa refused to make weight and due to fears of a canceled main event, the fight was shifted from middleweight, to catch weight and then to light heavyweight all within a week.
During this, 2021 fighting season Costa was under the rigorous eye of USADA and now Costa feels that the frequency of their tests indicates some wrongdoing on their part.

Posting a statistic about the most tested Brazilian fighters in 2021, Costa would top the list with 189 tests, which would be USADA showing up at his house on alternate days all year. Obviously a fake statistic, Costa further went on to jokingly claim that USADA was selling his urine samples for a profit.
“Seeing this highest number of testing I think those motherf**kers are taking my pee and selling it!!!!!! Without my permission . Give me ma money ” wrote the middleweight contender on Twitter.
Costa later posted a follow-up asking fans how much they would pay for his samples, he wrote, “Just to know, how much you would pay for 50 ml of my pee juice?” Costa seems keen on competing with OnlyFans models selling bathwater rather that continuing his professional career.
While Costa is certainly the most tested Brazilian athlete, the number is not nearly as high. The true number, 23 is still 9 more tests that the next highest Brazilian, the champion Amanda Nunes with 14.
Costa has long been scheduled to face former middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold, however, the fight has been postponed from it’s original spot at UFC 277, to UFC 278 in August. His opponent Luke Rockhold alleges that Costa apparently wants a clause in the contract where he doesn’t get fined from his purse if he were to miss the weight limit.
