Dana White recently made a few stunning announcements for the upcoming fight cards. Paulo Costa and Robert Whittaker will compete with each other on the UFC 298 card. “Borrachinha”, the 14-2 middleweight, last bagged a unanimous decision win against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278. The fighter has pulled out of multiple fight cards. Thus, fans feared another pullout.

Many fans think Costa might pull out once again. As soon as the negative reaction gained traction, Costa went on social media to address the concerns. This is what Costa replied when a fan asked if he signed the contract:

Costa had primarily undergone two surgeries for the staph infection as a contingent. Speaking to MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani, he had even expressed his immense wish to fight Chimaev. But on having to undergo a third surgical procedure, he was forced to withdraw. Even though he later publicized his visually disturbing injury, he still caught a lot of flack from fans.

His latest interaction on X, whether a feigned spoof or not, has caught much attention again. However, Costa himself followed up with a tweet soon after, promising a successful return. Only time will tell if Costa fights as promised at UFC 298.

Paulo Costa is one fight away from shutting down his critiques. Many fans, peers, and MMA pundits have consistently mocked him for numerous pull-outs over the years. Costa had to withdraw from UFC 294 due to a serious staph infection. Costa will fight former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 298.

Additionally, Costa is not well-acclimated to the silence from former rival Khamzat Chimaev. The duo was originally set to square off at UFC 294. The fighter went into overdrive, aspiring for a double appearance in the first quarter of 2024. With the historic UFC 300 card right around the corner, Costa issued a stern yet subtle challenge ahead of his slated fight.
