“New boxer is coming to town”- Paulo Costa sends Twitter into meltdown with a CRAZY update regarding his UFC contract

Paulo Costa

UFC Middleweight Paulo Costa is one of the most interesting characters in MMA. His insane physique and fighting have earned him several fans over recent years. But his antics on Twitter and in real life are what continue to endear him to audiences everywhere. He has quickly become one of the funniest men in the UFC.

From, carrying a bottle labeled “Secret Juice” to a weigh-in, to starting brawls backstage, Paulo Costa knows how to keep fans entertained. Although, with numerous Fight and Performance of the Night bonuses to his name, “Borrachina” backs up his shenanigans outside the octagon with phenomenal performances inside it. This is why this tweet from Costa confused everyone.

On his official Twitter handle, which is a treasure trove of random nonsense, Costa wrote: “My miserable contract with the UFC was up in a few short months. will expire in time. A new #boxer is coming to town!” Though it gives very few details regarding what Costa’s plan is, it can be assumed that he wants to make the switch to boxing. With his UFC contract running out, this transition looks very possible.

It comes as no shock that Costa wants to make the financially lucrative switch from MMA to boxing. After all, the likes of Conor McGregor, Tyrone Woodley, and now possibly, even Nate Diaz have made the leap to the squared circle. McGregor and Woodley took home large purses after their fights and it seems Paulo Costa is chasing that cheddar. However, it remains to be seen whether he follows through on his claim.

Paulo Costa has an upcoming fight against Robert Whittaker at UFC 284 in February. If things remain as they are, this has the potential to be Paulo Costa’s last bout in the UFC. Costa, who has only one fight remaining in his contract has not re-signed with the UFC. Earlier he had mentioned that he would re-sign only if the money was right. There have been no more updates regarding his contract.

Although Costa has lost 2 of his last 3 fights, he is riding high off of a win over Luke Rockhold. Having faced mostly elite opposition during his tenure in the UFC, Costa is one of its most exciting prospects.

With wins over Uriah Hall and Romero, he can boldly make the claim of being one of the world’s best middleweights. Fans are very excited to see him take on Robert Whittaker in February with many even asking for a Chimaev fight after the events of UFC 279.

However, Whittaker may end up being Costa’s last fight under the UFC and in MMA. With him signaling his intention of a move to the sport of boxing and no contract renewals in sight, this possibility seems imminent. Will Borrachina continue to entertain fans with his crazy antics or will we see him fight Jake Paul? Only Costa knows where his career will go as he prepares for Whittaker at UFC 284.
