Paulo Costa trolls Charles Oliveira for weigh-in mishap at UFC 274 ahead of championship fight
Paulo Costa trolls Charles Oliveira for UFC 274 weigh ins
A PPV card filled with drama only means more content for UFC middleweight Paulo Costa. The Brazilian has taken a shot at his fellow countryman, Charles Oliveira for his controversy during UFC 274 weigh-ins yesterday.
Paulo Costa is notorious for making fun of anything and everything on his social media. The fighter has been very engaging with his fans and doesn’t shy away from mocking his peers. Recently, Charles Oliveira fell victim to one of Costa’s recent memes as the middleweight jokes about Oliveira missing weight ahead of his lightweight title fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 274.
Oliveira weighed in 155.5 lbs ahead of his championship bout against Gaethje which led to the belt being stripped off from ‘Do Bronx’. Paulo did not hold back as he posted an edited image of Oliveira competing in a burger-eating competition. “Burger Ultimate Championship” captioned Paulo in his troll tweet.
Despite having successful weigh-ins in his UFC career, UK rising star Paddy Pimblett also caught some of the jokes coming his way as Costa edited the UK star into the meme. Pimblett has been seen looking overweight for a lightweight fighter in recent times.
When Paulo Costa couldn’t make weight for his middleweight fight against Marvin Vettori
Paulo’s appearance at the UFC was against Marvin Vettori for a middleweight fight in the main event of UFC Vegas 41. Costa was returning after a year from his title shot against Israel Adesanya and his dispute with the UFC bosses. The contracts were initially signed for a middleweight fight but Costa just a few days before the fight said to Vettori he won’t be able to make 185-pounds at the weigh-ins.
After revealing he won’t make middleweight, Costa suggested a catchweight fight at 195-lbs only for him to not keep his word and end up fighting at light heavyweight. Marvin agreed to fight the Brazilian at light heavyweight and even went on to beat Costa via decision after a stunning five-round fight.
Costa is now in the talks for a fight against former champion Luke Rockhold. Where do you see Costa’s future in the UFC?
