Paulo Costa couldn’t be happier to be a part of the amazing UFC 278 pay-per-view card. The middleweight fighter is even more excited to meet his new friend from the roster, Paddy Pimblett.
Paulo Costa and Paddy Pimblett are a duo that no one thought would come together. The power of social media truly comes into play with this one. Paulo and Paddy have gone back and forth over the last few months. Pimblett is already a fan favorite in the UFC with only three fights and Costa is one of them. The Brazilian and the Liverpool fighter have had jokes about managing their weight and Paulo reveals that Paddy has actually helped him get through his weight cut.
Paddy is notorious for gaining a ton of weight after his fight and always managing to get back in shape during his fight week. Paulo, who is not someone who necessarily goes “out of shape” was caught losing to the weigh-in scale in his last fight against Marvin Vettori. However, for his upcoming fight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278, Costa and Paddy have teamed via social media, and seems like it has done the trick for the Brazilian’s weight cut.
Paulo Costa believes Paddy Pimblett would be tough to beat at an eating challenge
In a recent interview with BT Sport ahead of his huge pay-per-view fight, Paulo spoke about his relationship with Paddy The Baddy and suggested a possible “hangout” after his fight against former champ, Luke Rockhold. “Paddy is an amazing guy, I support him a lot. I love the way he handles everything, he is always happy like me,” said Paulo in the interview.

The Brazilian is a huge fan of Paddy’s “I don’t give an F” attitude. “He doesn’t care too much. He just came, did an amazing job, and the people are with him. I am with him as well,” added Paulo about Paddy’s character. Costa then spoke about how wonderful it would be to have the Scouser in his corner. Paulo guarantees he would hang out with Pimblett after his fight since the lightweight is also in town.
“I want to lose this. I want to mess this shape up. Maybe we can do an ice cream eating competition…he’s a very tough challenge for me,” Paulo joked about wanting to lose his six-pack after doing the eating challenge with Paddy The Baddy.
