The much-anticipated bantamweight bout between Pedro Munhoz and Sean O’Malley didn’t go the way fans wanted it to be. In the second round of the fight, O’Malley accidentally hit Munhoz’s eyes with his gloves and the fighter reacted immediately. As Munhoz held his eyes, the referee stopped the fight allowing the experts to check the condition. Later the fight was announced as no contest as Munhoz was unable to continue.

After that incident, many fight fans were disappointed and started giving hate comments about the Brazilian. Many suggested that Munhoz took the easy way out and the eye poke was clearly ineffective. However, Munhoz’s condition was backed by Reed Harris, a member of the UFC staff. Harris made a tweet confirming that there is no sense in doubting Munhoz as he was seriously injured.

” “At UFC Host hotel this morning. Just saw Pedro Munhoz. For all you doubters out there, his eye is swollen shut. Went to hospital last night and eye is scratched. This sh** is real. BTW- he said he knows it was an accident and has nothing but respect for Sean.”

In the video Munhoz revealed that after the eye poke he temporarily lost his vision. He was taken to hospital and after checkup it was found that he has a scratch in his cornea. Munhoz said :

” I couldn’t see anything for 20 minutes. I was taken to the hospital and they used a special eye drop that made my eye numb so they could open my eye. They did an exam and the medical report I have is that there’s a scratch in the cornea all the way around it. I couldn’t open my eye because of that and couldn’t see anything.”

While many fight fans trolled Pedro for not continuing to fight it was hard on his side for fighting with a damaged cornea.
