Tom Aspinall has become the latest victim of a UFC main event ending in the most anti-climatic manner. His fight against Blaydes saw exactly two combined exchanges that ended with Aspinall on the canvas writhing in pain. Of particular note was that this was the second main event in arow to be derailed by an injury, a similar occurrence taking place last week during the fight between Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega.
Unlike Ortega, who popped his shoulder trying to escape a submission attempt, Aspinall had his knee shattered off what seemed to be a routine leg kick. Similar to the featherweight main event last week, this fight also had far-reaching consequences for it’s division, all of which will remain unanswered for now.
